USS Alabama Battleship is the sixth completed ship of the United Stated Navy. The South Dakota-class battleship displaces more than 44,500 tins.
It had 37 months of active duty during World War II. The battleship was retired in 1962 and then opened to the public as a ship museum in 1965. Visitors can view the inside of the main gun turrets and anti-aircraft guns.
The ship was added to the National History Landmark registry in 1986.
