The museum was opened in 1937 by King George VI. This is the world’s largest maritime museum. It includes 17th century Queen’ Houseand the Royal Observatory, Greenwich.
It contains almost 2,5 million items, it has the most important holdings on the history of Britain sea including maritime art, ship models and plans, cartography etc. It has also the world’s largest historical reference library including books dating back to the 15th century.
