The "Reykjavik Maritime Museum", housed in a former fish freezing plant, features nautical artifacts such as fishing boats, radio and navigation equipment, diving suits and model ships illustrating the importance of fishing and trading of the area.
The main exhibitions concentrate on the development from rowing boats to modern trawlers as well as on trading vessels and routes and the construction of Reykjavik Harbor.
Furthermore the Coast Guard Vessel Óðinn, that took part in all three cold wars, is docked at a pier alongside the museum and open for visits all year except for December and January.
